INSIDE SCOOP ON SUMMER CAMPS WE LOVE!

Beginning a New Tradtion

Posted by Melissa Salvatore on

My Italian Great Aunts gathered the family for food, food and more food. Mangia Mangia.
Then I married into a Peruvian/Italian family and the gathering continues through the generations. It is in my husband's blood to gather people for a good time and this is how the Annual Pig Roast started. Ok, so maybe we are only going on our 3rd annual, but this is how traditions begin.
The event actually takes place about 24 hours before anyone shows up and these two guys begin the preparation of the pig. And then there is the roasting, the gathering, the feasting and then the relaxing, wandering or whatever "doing nothing" entices.
Then the brave ones camp out for the night and rest on their full bellies under the stars.
