clothing tips and what to bring

We are here to assist with any final decisions and touch-ups during your shoot. While we do appreciate you arriving camera-ready, don't hesitate to bring along some clothing options for added flexibility

kids


clothing:

  • 3-5 outfit options

  • solid color basics

  • small repetitive patterns

  • hats and bows

  • a more stylized outfit

  • shoe options are great but we often have children barefoot

avoid:

  • neon/fluorescent colors

  • logos and characters

good to have:

  • hair brush/ product

  • extra bottles, diapers, and wipes if necessary

  • a treat for after the session ;)

adults


clothing:

  • 2-3 outfit options

  • solid color basics

  • small repetitive patterns

  • pieces that show off your personal style

  • layers to style (t-shirts, long sleeves, overshirts)

  • a more casual option and a more formal option

  • more fitted items tend to photograph better than flowy clothing

avoid:

  • neon/fluorescent colors

  • logos and loud patterns

  • heavy makeup

  • bronzer or blush with a heavy sheen

  • pieces that make you feel uncomfortable or don’t reflect your personal style

  • everyone wearing the same color

  • watches and statement accessories

good to have:

  • hair brush/ product

  • makeup for touch-ups

  • a treat for after the session because you deserve one too!

pets


clothing:

  • cute little accessories

  • bandanas

  • special collars small repetitive patterns

  • hats and bows

  • pet clothing, if you're pet tolerates it

avoid:

  • neon/fluorescent colors

  • clothing/accessories that will agitate your bet

good to have:

  • grooming pre-shoot

  • animal brush

  • their favorite treats and toys

newborns


clothing:

  • 5-6 look options

  • a variety of swaddle options (both basic and patterned)

  • meaningful blankets or mementos

  • snug fitting clothing

  • button onesies

  • hates and bows

avoid:

  • neon/fluorescent colors

  • onesies with zippers (tend to look bunchy in photos)

  • itchy or irritating fabrics

  • baggy or ill-fitting clothing

  • botties, socks, and shoes - they are cute but their little feet are cuter

good to have:

  • extra bottles, diapers, and wipes

  • familiar blankets and toys

  • a treat for after the session ;)

moms-to-be


clothing:

  • 6-7 outfit options

  • solid color basics

  • neutral, soft, and lighter tones

  • fitted dresses, wrap dresses, robes, scarves, button-up shirts

  • two-piece/ casual option

  • pre-pregnancy jeans

avoid:

  • neon/fluorescent colors

  • logos and loud patterns

  • pregnancy jeans and exposed maternity elastic

  • heavy makeup

  • bronzer or blush with a heavy sheen

  • pieces that make you feel uncomfortable or don’t reflect your personal style
